I was out weedeating the lawn listening to this when I suddenly tripped and fell.
Well the fucking weedeater sliced a gashing wound into my leg. My neighbors saw this and called 911. When the paramedics arrived they found me wriggling on the ground with headphones still on. They attempted to provide emergent care but I adamantly refused and said, "just let me enjoy this album, its the only pain killer I need, thanks."
Crestfallen, they left while I bled to death.
Mmm, such a good album! Obstacle of Affliction

Murky, bottom-heavy doomy metal that sucks you in and swallows you up. I love how the album moves from swamp as metaphor for the self-delusions that hold us back to bogs and the ancient remains they conceal within as pathways to deeper, terrifying spiritual awakenings that reveal the primeval horrors that lurk just at the edges of our consciousness. The Chicago punks seem intent on defying any hardcore conventions, focusing instead on communicating pure disgust for the rotting world around them. Bandcamp Album of the Day Jul 1, 2022
